Jerry Coker was born in Arkansas and has spent most of his life in Gainesville, Florida. Jerry has been creating for much of his life. In the mid-1980’s, Jerry’s “identity masks” came to the attention of dealers and collectors via a one-man show in New York, and his career was on it’s way.
Starting with a wood base, Jerry wraps found scraps of metal around the wood to create haunting and beautiful masks based on characters from his rural surroundings. Jerry’s work is in most major collections and featured in many folk art volumes.
